A shaded village lane in Ocracoke with cottages and bicycles

Visit Us

Half the joy of Over the Moon is the wandering — and the best way to experience the shop is to step inside. If you're making your way to Ocracoke, we'd love to be part of your day on the island.

Finding the Shop

Over the Moon sits in the heart of Ocracoke village, an easy stroll or bike ride from the harbor at Silver Lake. Ocracoke is reached only by ferry or small plane, so once you've made the crossing, the village is wonderfully walkable. Wander the shaded lanes, and you'll find us among the cluster of small shops near the center of the village.

Before You Come

Like much of Ocracoke, the shop keeps a seasonal rhythm — busiest in the warm months when visitors fill the island, quieter in the off-season. If you're planning a trip, it's always wise to check current island ferry schedules and seasonal hours in advance. The North Carolina Ferry System publishes up-to-date crossing times to and from the island.

A Few Tips for First-Time Visitors

Ocracoke rewards the unhurried. Bring cash and a tote for handmade finds, wear comfortable shoes for the village lanes, and plan around the ferry rather than against it. Mornings are lovely for the beach, afternoons for wandering the shops, and evenings for watching the light go gold over the harbor. However you spend your day, leave a little room for serendipity — it’s the island’s specialty.

Make a day of it: walk the beach, climb toward the historic lighthouse, watch the boats come in, and leave time to browse. Learn more about Ocracoke Island or get a head start on your visit with our gift guide.
