Silver Lake harbor is a useful starting point for exploring Ocracoke village on foot or by bicycle. Ocracoke is reached only by ferry or small plane, so once you've made the crossing, the village is wonderfully walkable. Wander the shaded lanes and leave time to explore the village's small shops.
