Artisan Styles We Love
A shop is only as good as the makers behind it. Over the years Over the Moon has carried the work of more than one hundred independent North American artists — potters, jewelers, painters, woodworkers, soap-makers and whimsical inventors of all kinds. Here are the styles and traditions we return to again and again.
Studio Potters
Hand-thrown stoneware is the heart of the shop. We love wheel-thrown mugs with thumb-worn handles, glazed bowls in ocean blues and earthen browns, and platters meant for everyday use rather than the back of a cabinet. Studio pottery carries the fingerprints of its maker — no two pieces are ever exactly alike, which is precisely the point.

Jewelers & Metalsmiths
From delicate silver pendants to bold statement earrings in sea glass and natural stone, the jewelry case is where many visitors lose track of time. Handmade jewelry lets a maker's signature shine in miniature: a hammered texture here, a tiny enameled detail there. Each piece is small enough to slip in a pocket and personal enough to become a favorite.
Painters & Printmakers
Coastal light has inspired artists for centuries, and the wall-art corner reflects it. Original paintings, signed prints and hand-pulled linocuts capture marsh grass, fishing boats, shorebirds and the long horizon line of the barrier islands. They make the kind of art you actually want to live with.
Whimsy Makers
Then there are the pieces that simply make you grin — painted clocks, soft handmade toys, quirky garden creatures, and small sculptures with personality to spare. Whimsy has always had a home here. After all, the shop is named for a cow jumping over the moon.
Soap, Soaps & Small Goods
Rounding out the collection are the everyday luxuries: hand-poured soaps and balms, beeswax candles, hand-stitched goods and pretty little things for babies and kids. Small-batch makers pour real care into these — you can smell and feel the difference.
